Deadline for Completion The Enrollment Contract for the 2023–24 school year must be completed by February 28, 2023.
Financial Obligations
By signing this Agreement, you are accepting responsibility and agreeing to pay your son’s tuition and fees for the full school year, regardless of whether he leaves the School for any reason, including discipline or withdrawal by either the School or you. No portion of the fees will be refunded in such circumstances. You are responsible for the balance of any tuition and fees remaining outstanding at the time of withdrawal or expulsion from the School. All unpaid amounts for tuition or fees are immediately due and payable in the event of your son’s withdrawal or dismissal from the School, and you agree to pay those amounts immediately upon request.
By signing this agreement, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the policies within the
St. George’s School Financial Handbook. You understand that the School receives partial funding from the Provincial Government for your son’s education. For the School to qualify for 100% of the Provincial Government grant, your son must attend school a minimum of 600 hours between September 1st and May 15th. If, for whatever reason, your son does not meet the minimum hours of attendance requirement such that the School does not receive the Provincial Government grant, you agree that you are responsible to the School for the amount of any grant for your son that the School does not receive.
Annual Enrollment
Enrollment at St. George’s is granted on an annual basis and continued enrollment is not guaranteed. While St. George’s hopes that students enrolling in the School will remain in the School until graduation, the School recognizes that, from time to time, it is not in the best interest of a student to continue at the School. The School is committed to ensuring that all students’ needs are met but reserves the right in its absolute discretion to decline to offer re-enrollment for a subsequent school year.
Outdoor Education
An Outdoor Education assessment is charged to Grade 8–10 student accounts at the beginning of the school year to cover additional costs associated with this program beyond tuition and boarding fees. Please refer to the School publication on this program for additional information. No refunds shall be issued to students who are unable to attend the Outdoor Education program.
COVID-19
By signing this Agreement, you acknowledge and agree that, given the COVID-19 pandemic, the manner in which the School delivers educational programs may change over the school year. St. George’s will provide educational programming in a manner that complies with Ministry of Education and Public Health officials’ guidance, including with respect to instruction, athletics, field trips, and extra-curricular activities. You understand and agree that this may mean that program delivery will occur face to face in classroom settings, remotely through an online platform, or a combination of both, and that some activities that previously occurred may not occur this school year. Regardless of the manner in which the educational program is delivered, or the extent to which such athletic, field trip, or extra-curricular activities occur, you agree that your financial obligation for your son’s tuition and fees for the school year does not change.
You further agree that you and your son will comply with public health guidance with respect to COVID-19, including becoming fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless medically excluded, if guidance provided by the Provincial Health Officer or BC Centre for Disease Control so requires. An individual is considered Fully Vaccinated under this Agreement seven days after they have received the full series of an Approved Vaccine, including booster shots or a combination of Approved Vaccines as determined by Public Health officials in British Columbia.
You further understand and agree that, in the event St. George’s is compelled by government order to suspend operations by virtue of the COVID-19 pandemic, your financial obligation to the school remains, notwithstanding that suspension of operations.
Force Majeure
In the event that St. George’s is not able to perform its obligations under this Agreement or the delivery of the Educational Program is delayed or interrupted as a result of events outside of St. George’s control, including, without limitation, because of strikes, pandemics, disease outbreak, work stoppages, accidents, acts of war or terrorism, civil or military disturbances, nuclear or natural catastrophes or Acts of God, and interruptions, loss or malfunction of utilities, communications or computer (software and hardware) services, St. George’s will not be considered in breach of this Agreement by reason of such delays or non-performance and shall not be liable to the student or his parents/guardians for any loss, injury, or expense caused by or arising out of such delays, interruptions or non-performance. In such circumstances, St. George’s will provide students and their parents/guardians with prompt notice of the intervening event, and shall use reasonable efforts to resume the Educational Program as soon as it is legally permissible and St. George’s, acting reasonably, is practically able to do so.
In such circumstances, if one of the events described above fully or substantially prevent(s) St. George’s School from delivering an educational program as defined in the British Columbia Independent School Act in accordance with the provincially-approved curriculum, or boarding services that may be contemplated by this Agreement, as determined by St. George’s School acting reasonably, for more than three (3) months consecutively, you will be entitled to a credit or refund of the tuition and fees you have paid for the current academic year, as follows:
- to a credit if your son is enrolled in Grade K–11 and you choose to re-enroll your son for the next academic year;
- to a refund if your son is enrolled in Grade 12 or you choose not re-enroll your son for the next academic year.
The amount of such credit or refund will be proportional to the length of the disruption in delivery of an educational program or boarding, in relation to the academic year.
